Buying Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL

I bought this item for my wife. If you are are not younger than (64) it is difficult to download music. I found the apple itunes to be a pain in the butt with all their downloads. I do like the item and it is amazing what you can put on such a small product. It was bought for workouts and jogging and it's size is perfect. That is why we bought it.Get more detail about Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL.

This is the best product for workout. I was still using my old version of Ipod but finally its life ended then I got Iphone which also has Ipod. But it is not convenient to use Iphone when you work out, especially when you are hiking or running..And I really do not like to carry my phone with me while I am working out. Then here comes ipod shuffle. It is the tiniest and lightest music player ever with a clip which enables you to attach it anywhere. You do not feel it at all when you run. For the price, the iPod shuffle (2nd Generation)is perfect; actually, it surpassed my expectations. I am out and about all the time and needed something small, inexpensive to listen to my music.

I've read some of the other negative reviews and I don't get it. The ear plugs that come with are just fine for my purposes - however, if I'm indoors, I whip out the Bose headset that I purchased a couple of years ago and the sound is amazing. The attachments that can be purchased separately - for car use, plugging into your Bose system - are neat.

This ipod is very straight forward and easy to use. On a full charge, the battery lasts a little over four hours - that's the only drawback - battery life could be better - however, it's a quick charge. All in all - 5 Stars.Get more detail about Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL.

Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL This instant

I have been skeptical of apple's mp3 players from the start and vowed to not purchase one. I had a philips go gear 8 gb first, which worked alright and then i purchased a 80 gb microsoft zune, which i promptly returned to the store because what i thought was an upgrade was actually an inferior product to the philips. So i finally caved and bought an ipod. I could not have been happier with this purchase. The apple itunes store is so user-friendly that it makes the ipod that much better. And the clip attached is great for running or walking. The ear plugs are junk compared to a good company (why they get 4 out of 5 stars), but they do the job for now. It was a pain to transfer all the music files to itunes, and i had to do a lot of extra work searching for, cutting, and pasting album art; but now that it is done i do not regret it. I also purchased a 32gb ipod touch and am very pleased with that product as well. I took a chance on apple and they did not disappoint (unlike some companies: i.e. microsoft). Now I realize why apple has such a strong hold on the market; they have put out a great product with strong support and a long lifetime.Get more detail about Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL.

I love the shuffle. I've even dropped in water and it still kept working. It's light weight, easy to use, and the battery life is AMAZING! It's an A+ Apple product.

I'm don't use the Shuffle like most. I don't use iTunes. Instead I use iShuffle.exe to sync the playlist. This gives me more flexibility and ease of use. I prefer Amazon MP3 downloads. I also use Juice to download podcasts. Then use a script to copy over files every day.

The ipod shuffle is great! Granted, it's limited in it's features. But, I find that to be part of it's beauty. It's perfect for a subway commute, jogging session, or time at the gym. The fact that there's no screen to tell what song is coming next is kind of nice once you get used to it. It keeps that element of surprise going and is less distracting. I'd recommend this to people who want to casually listen to music, while going about their day.Get more detail about Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL.

I've never owned an Ipod before, but I did have a generic mp3 player with limited volume control. So I had a small amount of knowledge about transferring music to an mp3 player. My only problem with this mp3 player is that the instructions do not tell you that you can only use itunes to transfer music. So to inform new users, when I first plugged it into my computer to charge the battery, I got a flashing orange light for about 10 hours. I had been using windows media player to transfer songs, and it was showing that these songs were on the ipod. When I unplugged it and turned it on, none of these songs were actually on the ipod, it would not do anything. After several hours of wasting my time, I did my research and discovered this important piece of information, downloaded itunes, and besides the fact that itunes is much slower than windows media player, I love this ipod. Once synced to itunes, it finally stopped blinking orange, turned to a green light, and started playing music. The sound quality is fantastic. For me, the simplicity is great. Sound quality is reduced from 1st gen iPod shuffles, but it's still very passable. The big problem with this unit is that it comes with 2 gigs, but you'll never be able to listen to all of it for 2 reasons:

1) The playlist is reset after every charge
2) The charge doesn't last more than about 3 days (or more like 4 hours)

My previous iPod never had this issue, even the Touch got better battery life. If you're going to go for the shuffle, get the 1 gig - the 2 gig is a total waste of cash.Get more detail about Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL.

Bought this for my 7 year old and he loves it. I like the fact that you can limit the volume control when you plug it in to your computer, so no matter how high they feel like turning it up on the actual shuffle you have already set it to a non-deafening tone through the computer. We ended up purchasing the 2GB because we figured we still have a few years before he is a teen and wanting the latest and greatest new gadget.. What's more to say- it's not a Zume, and it's made by Apple.. That should be the major selling factors right there... Get more detail about Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL.

Apple is discontinuing this iPod Shuffle and replacing it (on March 12, 2009) with the so-called "improved" version... one that has the controls on the earbud cable! This is ludicrous. I do not like the standard earbuds that come with the iPods: they are uncomfortable and fall out too easily.

I prefer Sony's "wrap-around" earphones. And for my car, I just use a mini-cable to attach the iPod to my car stereo's input jack. You can't do this with the "improved" iPod shuffle!

I already have this type of iPod, and it still works wonderful. Battery life is fantastic. So why am I buying a second one? Because I know, eventually, the iPod Shuffle that I currently have will die, or get lost or stolen.Get more detail about Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL.

Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL Review

I am truly loving this little gadget! This is my first ipod/mp3 player and I must admit that at first I was hesitant to buy one because I ride the bus & sub to work so safety is a concern but it's a great way to zone out during the ride - I simply clip it on and go (it's nice to be able to wear it under my coat so it can't be snatched off of my person).

Right now I have 248 songs loaded and because I only listen to it while traveling the battery lasts about 10 days. I love the shuffle feature which adds an element of surprise to the listening experience. It's also wonderful that I can use my own pair of in-ear buds instead of having to use the Apple buds that came with the shuffle.

For someone like me who only uses the ipod sporadically, this is a most useful invention that has added a lot of pleasure to my daily commute!Get more detail about Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL.

I reluctantly bought this for Christmas for my 5 year old, and thought...Should I buy two? How long will it last? Well, after sitting in the grass overnight for three days...It still works. A week later I found it in the bottom of the washing machine. It must have been in his pocket. I really thought it was dead now, but thought to charge it just in case and...It started charging and still held all his songs. Unbelievably well made product! Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL This instant

I own the IPOD shuffle as well as an 80gb classic. I was reading the reviews of the shuffle and was somehow aggravated. The IPOD shuffle was not designed to be used as mass media music collection storage device. If you want that then you will need to purchase the big boy (classic). The IPOD shuffle is perfect for use when running, working out, or just a brisk morning walk.

It is smaller than a pack of matches and you never even know that you have it. It took me all of about 20 minutes to add the music from I TUNES to it. You can open i tunes and throw in your favorite cds, and it will copy the songs to the shuffle. I have 200 songs on mine and really did not pay a dime for any of the songs.

There is some negativity about not being able to copy music not purchased through I tunes into the i tunes library. Well I have an extensive music collection and not all of it was purchased through i tunes.

Solution to the problem, I just burn my favorite songs to a discs and then i tunes will copy mu songs into the i tunes library from the discs.

All in all the IPOD shuffle is a top of the line music player, it is not complicated and there is not onscreen display, that on most cheaper mp3 players is just plain aggravating to navigate through. If you are on the market for an MP3 player : buy the shuffle! Small, easy, and portable.

My children love theirs! They rock on road trips.Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Bright Green (2nd Generation)

It was the end of last summer when I learned I was getting this. Since I was gonna start taking a bus, my mom told me to get an iPod so that way when it gets loud, I can just pull it out and listen to it. Now I did have a problem. About a week after I had the system installed, my laptop got a virus and I had to erase everything on it. As of now it is dead because my 8 year old cousin turned it on and forgot to turn it back off. FYI she kept on hounding me with "Can I have this?" over and over again. So when I went to listen to it, the battery died and I can't recharge it. I am going to get a replacement, I only paid [...] bucks for the darn thing and I only had 6 songs. The following are the songs I had on my iPod.

Rascal Flatts: Life is a Highway

Joe Nichols: What's a Guy Gotta Do?

Guitar Hero: Iron Man

Lion: Transformers

Green Day: Boulevard of Broken Dreams (I listened to that song most)

Hilsong United: From The Inside Out

My only real question was why it came with Apple Stickers?Get more detail about Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL.

I picked up a 2 GB Shuffle refurbished for $40 and it was a fantastic value purchase. I already own a 1 GB first gen Shuffle, but the battery isn't what it used to be and it requires pocket space (buttons get accidentally pressed in a pocket as well).

Second Gen Shuffles have a fantastic industrial design. They are super small, the clip is extremely useful and it looks like a very durable build-quality. Clipping the 2nd gen shuffle to a pants pocket is the way to go and it simply works really, really well. Weighing in at .55 oz. these are nothing short of amazing.

I can't say how long the battery life is or how many charges the battery can take before losing capacity permanently. I guess it's a bit unfortunate that the batteries are not user replaceable since I'm sure that will likely be the first thing to go on mine.

When I travel I intend to bring both my 2GB Shuffle as well as my 1GB unit. Both will be fully charged and loaded with music and at less than 1.5 oz. (for both) weight and volume are not an issue whatsoever.

The headphones that came with my 1st gen Shuffle are superior to the ones that came with my 2nd gen unit. They shortened the cord and made the earbuds bigger which quickly become uncomfortable. (I am an average sized person). I strongly recommend picking up a pair of isolation earphones like Coby and Skull Candy make if you plan on wearing headphones for over an hour or if you have small ears. The silicon inserts are incredibly comfortable and they seal out ambient noise as well.

I chose the 2nd gen Shuffle over the 3rd Gen shuffle because I don't like the idea of proprietary headphones (you have to use the Apple remote earbuds) and I don't see the need for and additional 2GB of music. I ripped most of my music at 192 kps and the 2 GB Shuffle will hold 24 hours of music at that bitrate. This is more music than one battery charge will hold.

The dock is nothing special. I liked the convenience of simply plugging the 1st Gen Shuffle into a USB port without needing a dock, but I don't think that engineering feat was possible in a design as small as the 2nd gen Shuffle. I am very pleased with the quality and performance of this little shuffle. It does EXACTLY what it was made to do, shuffle music and be tiny with an awesome little clip. No armband needed while being active or exercising. For any other use, this is too simple as it's not meant to be navigated for your favorite song but rather to "shuffle". If you want something less simple, try the ipod touch or nano/ect. (Personally I love my ipod touch G2 for everything else and use my shuffle for running/exercise) I purchased my shuffle refurbed from Apple and am VERY pleased with the quality and performance. Another excellent example of a quality MP3 Player for those of us tired of cheap players that fall below expectations. (and I have owned my share of non-apple MP3 players over the years before deciding to bite the bullet and buy Apple ipods. I won't go back. Proud owner of an itouch and a shuffle as is my hubby. Daughter adores her new Nano)

Pros:
~Tiny
~NICE solid clip that holds
~Shuffles perfectly which allows you to listen to various unplanned music - great for running
~Solid Software and seamless with itunes
~Long battery life
~Vivid color - finish holds up to abuse while I run
~Did I mention this is VERY solidly built?

Cons:
None for me as it solidly performs exactly as described and fits my needs without a flaw. If you purchase this with that in mind, you will be pleased.

Earphones are typical apple that fail to impress and I have upgraded to the Etymotic Research ER6i Isolator In-Ear Earphones that amazon sells at a great price. Outstanding with both of my ipods!Get more detail about Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL.

I needed a small music player for gym and walking to work and really like the smallness of the device and the built-in clip - means i don't have to get an attachment/case and can work out of the box.

Some gripes: the 'shuffle' order is pre-organised - it doesn't do it randomly, and i would prefer when it is connected to the computer that i can see the music title - apple just gives it a random title. And as said in title it's a little pricy when you consider it's just a glorified usb drive with a few extra buttons on it but as I got it mostly paid using a gift voucher, it's been worthwhile.

Ideally I would love a simple screen like the old original ipods where i can just pick the song/album/artist but not have the video - i've looked at the nanos but they're just a bit too big/long and the video is something i'm not really bothered with. ALso the screen would probably suffer as my items tend to get chucked around a bit, it doesn't look that robust. So Apple, come out with something like that and I'll be happy!

I am not sure why....no matter where I go or whom I talk to I keep hearing and reading the same thing...."it has to be used with iTunes and can only sync to one computer".... This is WRONG!!! If you are stupid enough to read the directions and accept that you have to use their software then you can have the hassle. I have had several iPods hooked up to my computer that had NO PROBLEMS using Media Monkey (my preferred software available free online)I hooked my iPod up and it was recognized as an external drive. I do the drag and drop and sync selected songs without problems. If I want to remove one song I just select and click delete. As for only being able to use it on one computer.....that is because you set your iPod up to "auto sync" when attached. If you don't do that then you can go between computers. I just had a friend ask me to put some of my music on to his iPod shuffle and I hooked it up and presto. Media Monkey recognized it without problem, removed the songs he didn't want and added new ones WITHOUT wiping it clean! I wish instead of people complaining about iTunes they would just not use it! Just because the directions tell you to do it doesn't mean you have to! This is Apples greatest moneymaker and idea!
